Icons are functional shorthand. They should be simple, legible at small sizes, and consistent in weight and geometry across the system.
Build icons on a shared grid so they align visually when placed side-by-side.
Usage
Use icons to reinforce meaning, not decorate. Pair with a label whenever the icon is not universally recognisable.
Do's
- Use consistent stroke weight and corner radius.
- Keep icons on the shared grid.
Don'ts
- Don't mix filled and outlined icons in the same context.
- Don't distort or re-proportion icons.
